New Electric Car From Tesla Motors – The Model S

The new electric car of the future?  No! It is now!  The Model S from Tesla Motors has been released and is out on the market for you to enjoy.  With a price of right around $57,000 and a small waiting list, you can have one of these outstanding new Electric Cars.  With a driving range of close to 300 miles on one charge, and a 0-60 mph in less then 60 seconds this Model S from Tesla Motors is one awesome piece of work.  It can seat up to 7 people, 5 adults and 2 children, or you can fold the rear seats down and transport a big-screen TV, a surf board, or even a mountain bike.

This is a long way from the first Electric Car released from Tesla, the Roadster electric car, but

they now have the sports car and the family car.  In this new Model S you get:

The Model S powertrain features a liquid-cooled, floor-mounted battery pack and a single-speed gearbox, delivering effortless acceleration, responsive handling and quiet simplicity — no fancy clutchwork or gear-shifting required. Model S costs about $4 to fully charge – a bargain even when gasoline is $1 per gallon. You can listen to Pandora Radio or consult Google Maps on the 17 inch touchscreen with in-car 3G connectivity.

Now you can check out these videos and see for yourself what you think of the great new car.  I now know what I want for Christmas and I can’t wait until I get to see one of these for myself.

Since General Motors and Chrysler entered bankruptcy last spring, GM has stolen the lion’s share of the headlines. The General has made front page news with new products, a government loan payback and first quarter profits, while Team Pentastar has quietly gone about the business of returning to respectability. Chrysler took another step towards its goal this week as the company paid back another $1.9 billion in government loans to the federal government. In total, Chrysler has paid back $3.9 billion of the $14.3 billion in loans the company received.
